Love Like You've Never Been Offended

| Group Study |

Watch the short clips below, and answer the questions associated with each.  You can do this alone - but it's always more fun with a group of friends! Be sure to read/study the scriptures in each section.  God's word is the standard by which we measure all our thoughts and ideas.

1 | offenses are inevitable

Scripture tells us that it is impossible to never be offended.  It will happen.  Friends, family, co-workers, politicians, the person driving in front of you...offenses will occur in our life.  Why is it impossible to avoid offenses?  Why is it so easy to let them fester and begin to control our lives?

2 | the trap

One thing is certain: when the enemy finds something that works against us, he uses it! He will latch on and try to trap you again and again by the things that work.  It's like his personal "Easy Button" that he'll use over and over again, and if he can trap you in that then he knows you will lose your effectiveness...

So what are your traps?  Are they things at work, home, in traffic, at school, or somewhere else that constantly offend and upset you? How can avoid these traps and ultimately overcome them?

Scripture: 1 Peter 5:8

3 | our choice

Do we handle offense like the world handles offense, or do we forgive those who offend us? Pastor Jim believes this question to be the difference between revival and the current status quo in the church. So what choice will we make? What can we do to show the world the difference between the church and others?

Scripture: Matthew 5:13-15, 1 Peter 2:9

4 | final prayer

Take this time to pray for one another and strengthen each other to combat past offenses and shield against future ones.

Scripture: Ephesians 6:18, Hebrews 3:13
