Living without Regrets
| Group Study |
Watch the short clips below, and answer the questions associated with each. You can do this alone - but it's always more fun with a group of friends! Be sure to read/study the scriptures in each section. God's word is the standard by which we measure all our thoughts and ideas.
1 | the roller coaster
Disneyland, Six Flags, Sea World, the carnival at a Fairgrounds...they've all got great roller coasters!
Are you a roller coaster person? Which one is your favorite? Which one is the worst?
2 | stumbling blocks
Stumbling blocks are those things that hinder our walk. As we follow the Lord, there are all sorts of things that can delay and derail us from making forward motion.
Pastor Jim says that those same stumbling blocks can actually become stepping stones. Have you ever seen this happen in your life or in someone else's? How can God turn a hindrance into a benefit?
scripture: Genesis 50:20
3 | image vs. reality
Keeping up appearances is nothing new in the church world. Even Jesus criticized the religious folks of his day, calling them "white washed tombs." Clean and white on the outside, but full of bones (and death) on the inside.
Why does maintaining a good image hinder us from Living without Regrets? Is there a connection between image and repentance?
4 | disappointment
Until the end of the story, it seemed like nothing went right for Joseph. Disappointment would have seemed natural for anyone else.
What do you think Joseph's secret was? How did he avoid getting stuck in a cycle of depression, sin, or hopelessness?
