Changing Opinions

| Group Study |

Watch the short clips below, and answer the questions associated with each.  You can do this alone - but it's always more fun with a group of friends! Be sure to read/study the scriptures in each section.  God's word is the standard by which we measure all our thoughts and ideas.

1 | truth and grace

We all come to the Father in unique ways.  God knows us so well, and He understands what will draw us toward him as individuals.

How did you come to know him?  What compelled you to make a decision to follow him?

Pastor Jim makes the point that today's generations don't respond to fear tactics.  What do you think?

2 | do we know him?

Pastor Jimmy is one of the kindest, happiest, most talented people on our church's staff.  We can refute a person's negative statements about him, because we know him well.  We can describe his character.

How about God?  Can you describe his character?
Take a few minutes and talk about the character of God.  Forget the religious, flowery, Sunday school things you've heard about God.  What do you KNOW about your father's character?

3 | the killjoy god

Many people have harbored false concepts of God's character.  The Killjoy God concept is prevalent among both Christians and Non-Christians.

Which false concept have you battled the most (either in your own life or with friends and family?)

1.  The Everything To Everyone God
2.  The Man Upstairs God
3.  The Private Detective God
4.  The Casual Buddy God
5.  The “It Was Good Enough For Grandma” God
6.  The Puppeteer God
7.   The Kill Joy God
8.  The Genie In A Bottle God
