Adventure with Missions

| Group Study |

Watch the short clips below, and answer the questions associated with each.  You can do this alone - but it's always more fun with a group of friends!

Be sure to read/study the scriptures in each section.  God's word is the standard by which we measure all our thoughts and ideas.

1 | i can do that

Pastor Pat shares about her call to a short term trip to Africa.  She is a living example of the opportunities that we can experience when we live an obedient life and have an open mind for what God can do.

Have you ever experienced something that only God could have orchestrated?  It may be as simple as a job opening, or as complex as ending up in Africa.

2 | adventure

Jesus came so that we could have life, and live it to the fullness He enables.  There is no doubt that there are seasons in our lives - but Pastor Pat says that we often let excuses get in the way of us living life to the fullest.

So, what's stopping you from living your God sized adventures?  Age, kids, finances, fear?  Can Christ work any of these things out to allow you to live life to the fullest?

scripture: Matthew 4:19, Psalm 16:11

3 | shhh...pastor pat...shhh

Speaking of children...studies show that most kids who were raised in church will never attend again after leaving the house.  Only a small percentage return later (most of them around the time they have school aged children).

What do you think is happening here?  (Try to avoid playing the blame game.  Remember, we are all in this together.)  Where is this disconnect happening?  Should we even be expecting that kids raised in church will stay?

scripture: Mark 10:13-16, Deuteronomy 6:6-7, Proverbs 22:6

4 | the blind man

Jesus worked miracles.  The scripture is plain on this fact.  Jesus also commissioned his disciples to work miracles.  Paul talked about miracles as a spiritual gift (available to all).

Jesus said that signs and wonders will accompany those who believe.  Do you believe this is true?

Have you ever witnessed a miracle?  Have you ever prayed for something "out of your league?"  Is there something out of your league that needs miracle-type prayer right now?

scripture: Mark 16:17-18, Matthew 13:58, Mark 9:23
